What Love Was

The heart sings, lilting skyward.

Brilliant notes crescendo and fall.

Melodies centuries old and harmonies blend.

From the softest touch,

from the sweetest kiss,

that I've ever known.

That is what love was,

and what it will be again.

Feet that never touch the ground,

my head never left the clouds.

The sound of your voice sent my pulse racing.

The flush on my face,

the flutter of a thousand wings I felt.

The familiar tingle as you drew near.

That is what love was,

and what it will be again.
